AIOU extends date for autumn semester admission
Islamabad, Sep 13: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has extended deadline for submitting
admission forms for the students of the Semester Autumn 2009 till September
15. Director Admission Sohail Nazir Rana said that all the continuing and
fresh students who have not yet applied for admission but are desirous of
getting admission can get admission form from the main campus of the university
as well as from it's regional offices located in 36 Regional campuses around the
country and submit up to Tuesday September 15 along with prescribed fee, said a
press release issued here on Saturday. For continuing students, the
university has already dispatched continuing computerized admission forms to
their given addresses. If anyone has not yet received the continuing admission
form, he/she is advised to download it from the AIOU`s website
www.aiou.edu.pk. Fresh Matric, FA, BA admission form can be purchased
from the main campus of the university or its regional offices and deposit the
prescribed fee along with the admission form in the authorized branches of
National Bank of Pakistan and all branches of First Women Bank Limited, Allied
Bank Limited, Bank Al Falah Limited and Habib Bank Limited, throughout the
country, latest by Tuesday, September 15.

"i just said goodbye to UNFPA and want to work for visual impairement, as i already doing work for visully impaired females for their casset recording and arrangment for writters. i really very appriciate her and specially request to higher authorities that they should encourage the female students while they are position holder or having passing marks but should be appreciated so that they can also be educated instead of remain illiterate for the whole life only because they couldt find any educational apportunity. USAID signs MoU to place Pakistanis on highly skilled jobs
Islamabad: USAID Pakistan (Jobs) project Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding
(MoU) with Brightspyre and Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Sukkur to
join hands for the placement of approximately 100,000 Pakistanis on highly
skilled jobs, says a press release. "This MOU will open doors to a world
of opportunities for the youth and women job seekers of Pakistan," said Amy
Ramm, Chief of Party, USAID Pakistan (Jobs). "In partnership with Brightspyer -
the leading job portal for the corporate sector; and IBA, Sukkur - one of the
best Information Technology institutes in the country, USAID Pakistan (Jobs)
will train and counsel students to get preeminent jobs in line with their
interest and caliber." Pakistan's economy is deficient due to low labor
productivity. USAID Pakistan (Jobs) will increase the job market value by
introducing highly skilled work force. This project will urge and facilitate
employers to develop on-the-job training systems that will improve employee
skills, bringing competitiveness amongst Pakistani firms. USAID Pakistan
(Jobs) is a five-year, $80 million project funded by US Agency for International
Development (USAID) and implemented by consortium of private sector
non-government and technical partner organisations led by Care International in
collaboration with the Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Industries,
Production and Special Initiatives. Since 2002, the US government has
provided more than $3.4 billion to Pakistan for improvements in economic growth,
education, health, governance, and assistance for earthquake reconstruction.

Blind student seeks CM's help
Islamabad: A blind female student, Noorul Huda has secured first position among
special male and female students in intermediate examination and fourth position
in Dera Ghazi Khan Board after getting 910 marks out of 1100. According to a
private TV channel Noor, hails from Layya and wants to continue her academics
and appealed to Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to provide financial
assistance to her.

Mehfil Husne Qirrat at IIU
Islamabad: The International Islamic University (IIU) will hold an international
Mehfil-e-Husane Qirrat here today (September 13) at 2:30 p.m. The event is being
organised by Dawah Academy of the university here at Faisal Mosque. Renowned
reciters from across the country are invited to participate while the event is

PAL to hold Naatia Mushaira
Islamabad: Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) will hold 'Naatia Mushaira' and lecture in
connection with the holy month of Ramazan tomorrow (September 14). The function
will be arranged in the Writer House of the academy, said a news release issued
here. Prominent poet and National Language Authority Chairman Iftikhar Arif will
preside over the Mushaira and Bashir Hussain Nazim will be the chief guest.
