The streets of Cardiff might feel eerily familiar to you, even if you've never been there before. That's because they're beamed weekly on to our TV screens as the backdrop to Doctor Who and its spin-off series. The producers of those shows were onto something, since Cardiff can easily double for London, not to mention the further reaches of the universe. It seems to have it all: grand civic architecture in a breezy waterside location; super-smart city bars and venues just a short hop from lovely countryside. The university is as confident and forward-looking as the city it is located in. It has 25,000 students and an excellent reputation for the quality of its teaching and research. |

Fees
£3,070 for all full-time undergraduate courses. Eligible Welsh students can apply for a Welsh assembly fee grant of £1,845 meaning that students only pay an annual fee of £1225 and this is not paid "up front." Instead payment is deferred until after graduation.
Bursaries
For students commencing their degrees in September 2007, the university is launching the Cardiff University Bursary Scheme available to full-time undergraduate students from lower-income households, valued at either £1,000, £500 or £300 per year. Also available are subject-specific scholarships awarded for academic achievement.
Accommodation
A place in one of the university's 5,100 student rooms is guaranteed to all first-year undergraduates. Most student residences are single en suite study bedrooms in self-catered flats, and are competitively priced. Prices range from £54 to £78 a week.
