Cumbria Institute of the Arts
Cumbria Institute of the Arts has 1,000 students and a campus overlooking a river and a park one mile from Carlisle city centre. Fine art and design crafts course programmes are housed close to the city centre in purpose-designed buildings. The college offers courses in communications and media, critical and contextual studies and fine and applied arts.

Later this year, the institute is to merge with St Martin's College and the Carlisle campuses of the University of Central Lancashire to form the University of Cumbria. The new university is due to open in September 2007.
Cumbria Institute of the Arts
Fees
£3,000 a year for all full-time undergraduate courses.

Bursaries
£1,200 a year to students from families earning £22,000 or less, with a sliding scale of support to £200. The institute has its own annual scholarship scheme.

Accommodation
Limited number of places in halls at its main campus, but there are some rooms in halls in Carlisle city centre.
