This former agricultural college is small, with just 1,800 undergraduate students, giving them the chance to experience living in a close-knit community. The location can only add to that sense - set in the lovely Shropshire countryside, there's little around but peace and quiet and the small town of Newport (though Telford might fill some of the gaps - it has a Marks & Spencer). Despite this, or perhaps because of it, the on-campus entertainments will easily satisfy the bits of you that thirst for noise, raucous fun and beer. It will come as little surprise that most of the courses focus on rural and land-based subjects. Its course list is ever-expanding, though, as it aims to educate the future innovators and guardians of a sustainable rural economy. |

Fees
£3,070 for full-time undergraduate courses in 2007-08.
Bursaries
£1,000 for students in receipt of the full grant; £750 to students with a household income between £17,911 and £28,500; £500 to students with a household income between £28,501 and £38,330.
Accommodation
Most first-year students live in halls. -Accommodation in 2007/08 costs £78 a week self-catering or £110 to £121 full board.
