Lampeter, University of Wales
|
Lampeter is the oldest degree-awarding institution in Wales, founded in 1822. It's also the smallest, with just 1,000 or so students on campus. As a result, the university has a close-knit atmosphere and staff pride themselves on being approachable. Lampeter is a small town in rural Wales, and the campus has a beautiful setting in the Ceredigion hills, on the banks of the River Teifi. The campus also boasts some handsome old buildings. Town/gown relations are excellent and if you're in search of some peace and quiet and lots of lovely green you could do a lot worse, though both Swansea and Cardiff are reachable and the student union's entertainment officers work tirelessly to ensure campus life has its fair share of fun. Acade mically, the university rates highly in theology and religious studies, and English language and literature. Around a third of students are over 21 when they start their course. |
