Lancaster University

Lancaster is a collegiate university with eight undergraduate colleges on campus (and a ninth for graduates). All students are members of one or other of the colleges which, as well as providing accommodation, also have their own bars and common rooms and an instant sense of community and belonging. Academic staff are also affiliated with a college and often have an active role. The campus is located outside the town of Lancaster and students make up about a fifth of the town's population, so they are well catered for. Here, you're within easy reach of the north-west coast, the Lake District, Manchester and Liverpool. Academic standards at the university are high - the physics department in particular. |

Fees
£3,070 for full-time undergraduate courses in 2007.
Bursaries
Students with a household income of below £18,360 are eligible for £1,315. Students with a household income of between £18,360 and £27,800 are eligible for £500. Scholarships will be awarded to UK students on the basis of academic excellence. All UK students who put down Lancaster as their firm choice and who achieve specified grades (which will be higher than the grades required for admission) will receive a scholarship of £1,000 per annum.
Accommodation
Accommodation is guaranteed to all students who firmly accept an offer from the university and apply before a deadline. Self-catering accommodation is £57 for a basic room; £98 for an ensuite studio with private kitchenette. No catered accommodation available, although there is a campus dining scheme.
