Leeds College of Music
Leeds College of Music is the UK's largest music college, with more than 1,000 full-time and 2,000 part-time students, located on the eastern side of Leeds city centre.
Undergraduate courses include music (ie classical music), jazz, music production, sound design and pop music studies.
Facilities include The Venue, a 350-seat performance space which opened in 2003, and hosts a concert season in spring and summer.
By offering both further and higher education courses, the college also aims to allow students to progress from BTEC courses through to degree-level study. |
Fees
Full-time BA and foundation degrees students pay £3,070 in 2007-08. There is a £40 audition fee for applicants.
Bursaries
There is a means-tested bursary of £500 to £1,000 for students in receipt of a maintenace grant. There is also a range of scholarships worth £1,500 to £2,000, some aimed at specific instruments.
Accommodation
Many first-years live in Joseph Stones House, which has 190 study bedrooms. Prices start from £79 a week for a 42-week year. The average private-sector rent in Leeds is around £57 a week.
