Royal College of Music
Students at London's Royal College of Music have no excuse not to feel inspired: not only are they are one of the top conservatoires (schools of music) in the country, attracting more than 600 students from 49 countries; they also practise directly opposite the Royal Albert Hall.
The undergraduate BMus lasts for four years; tuition covers up to 90 minutes a week of principal study, plus extra options and ensemble activities.
Facilities include the 400-seat Britten Theatre and the RCM's digital studios. There is also a BSc in physics with studies in musical performance, taught at both RCM and Imperial. |

Fees
BMus fees were £3,000 in 2006-07 for UK and EU students, and £13,950 for students from other countries.
Bursaries
All students receiving a maximum maintenance grant will receive an £820 bursary, of which around £520 will go on a student Travelcard for nine months. Students receiving 90% or more of a maintenance grant will receive the Travelcard but not the £300. All non-UK EU students receive £300 per year. There is also a range of scholarships, plus awards for students studying "shortage" or "period" instruments.
Accommodation
The college has a hall of residence, College Hall, near Ravenscourt Park, on the District Line in west London; it sleeps about 170 students, and includes practice rooms. Fees are £63 to £111 per week including bills. In the private sector, rents are around £75 to £110 per week excluding bills.
