The Royal Veterinary College
Founded in 1791, the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) was the UK's first veterinary school, and remains its largest.
A college of the University of London, RVC is based at two campuses: Camden, in the north of central London, and Hawkshead in Hertfordshire.
Undergraduates can choose from the BVetMed, a five-year programme leading to qualification as a vet; a BSc in veterinary sciences with a focus on domesticated species; and a foundation degree or BSc in veterinary nursing. Students may also take a "gateway" course, which leads on to the first year of the veterinary medicine degree. |
 |
Fees
Tuition fees for full-time undergraduates are £3,070 for 2007-08.
Bursaries
The college provides means-tested bursaries of up to £1,500 for students on the BVetMed, the veterinary sciences BSc or the foundation degree in veterinary nursing. Students on the "gateway" programme, aimed at students fom a non-traditional background, are eligible for bursaries of up to £5,700.
Accommodation
RVC can provide places in halls for 95% of first-year undergraduates, either in self-catering facilities or catered intercollegiate halls. Charges in 2006-07 ranged from £99.75 to £122 a week, though self-catering halls have a 50-week minimum let.
