The School of Pharmacy
The School of Pharmacy is a specialist college of the University of London. Its only undergraduate degree programme is the Master of Pharmacy, or MPharm - which entitles graduates, after a further year of pre-registration training, to sit Royal Pharmaceutical Society exams and register as a pharmacist.
The programme aims to "integrate the teaching, learning and understanding of pharmaceutical science in the context of pharmacy practice"; near the end of the course, students can choose specialist options or undertake a research project, and there is also a chance to study abroad in the spring of the third year.
The college is based in the university district of Bloomsbury, in the heart of London. |
Fees
Tuition fees for the MPharm will be £3,070 in 2007-08.
Bursaries
In 2006-07, students in receipt of full state support received a £500 bursary, with an extra £500 available based on academic performance. Students receiving partial grants received smaller bursaries, based on a sliding scale.
Accommodation
Students from outside London can apply to live in the University of London's intercollegiate halls - of which International Hall is the other side of Brunswick Square. Most first-year undergraduates are allocated a place; fees are around £115 a week for a single room or £99 to share, for a 38-week contract including Christmas and Easter breaks. In the private sector, rooms are around £90 to £120 week- or significantly less if you commute in from outer London.
