Stranmillis University College
Founded in 1922 as a teacher training institute, Stranmillis is now a college of Queen's University Belfast, offering three undergraduate degrees: a BEd in either primary or post-primary education, a BA in early childhood studies, and a BSc in health and leisure studies.
Its campus is based in a conservation area, part of 18 hectares of wooded parkland, one mile south of the city centre. The college is proud of being an inter-faith institution "with staff and students of all religions and none". |
Fees
Stranmillis charged £3,000 in 2006-07 for new, full-time UK/EU undergraduates, and £1,200 for continuing students.
Bursaries
The university offers means-tested bursaries; the maximum available last year was £1,000, for students in receipt of maximum level of state support. Bursaries of £500 were also offered to other students from lower-income groups.
Accommodation
The college can provide rooms in halls for 400 students: rents were £2,325 for 31 weeks of the year in 2006-07. Accommodation is also available in the private sector at around £170 to £220 per month plus bills.
