UHI Millennium Institute
UHI Millennium Institute (UHI) is the only higher education institution in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland - covering 15 sites as far away from each other as Shetland, Lewis, Argyll and Perth.
As well as more general vocational courses such as computing or business studies, the institute offers degrees in areas reflecting local industries and culture - such as aircraft engineering, electrical engineering with nuclear decomissioning studies, culture studies of the Highlands and Islands, Gaelic music or Gaelic language/culture, marine science, rural health studies, sustainable forestry - and, if all that tires you out, golf management.
Many courses are offered only at one particular site. |
Fees
Undergraduate fees in 2007-08 will be £1,735 for new students or £1,225 for continuing students.
Bursaries
As well as the Young Students Fund, operated by the Scottish executive, students can apply to hardship funds at individual sites. There is also a UHI Gaelic bursary, aimed at students studying an undergraduate Gaelic qualification taught in Gaelic; the award is £1,000 and for one year.
