University of Bristol
From humble beginnings as a university college in 1876 with just 99 students, Bristol has become a world-class university with over 26,000 students and a reputation for being pretty posh. There is an active programme to widen participation in place, however, and you can't blame people for wanting to come here: Bristol is a city with a great social scene. Though it's not a campus university, most of the main buildings are located within a few minutes' walk of each other in a lively part of the attractive city centre. Add to that excellent teaching and research, and you can see why they're clamouring to get in. University of Bristol
