University of Kent
Kent describes itself as the "European university", and many courses offer a foreign language option or a year abroad. It's part of the Franco-British University of the Transmanche and there's even a campus in Brussels. But no matter how much it gazes continent-wards, it also takes its regional role seriously.
The leafy main campus is about two miles from Canterbury centre - there are also centres at Tonbridge and Wye and a growing campus at Medway in the historic Chatham dockyard.
Though it's nominally a collegiate university (with four colleges), that isn't reflected in the day-to-day operation of the university, though you will be a member of one of them, with access to the ready-made community it offers you. Canterbury is a historic city with plenty of visitor attractions - and good shopping, bars and leisure facilities. |
