University of Liverpool
|
Liverpool is arguably the redbrick university - the phrase was coined by a Liverpool academic familiar with the local architecture, like the (red, brick) Victoria Building, the administrative heart of the university. And it has everything you'd expect from a classic redbrick: excellent ratings in teaching and research, a large and diverse student body, a strong sense of self and a location in a top city. Now would be a great time to apply to Liverpool, too - 2008 sees it becoming the European Capital of Culture and investment and development are already well under way. Last year, the university opened the first independent Anglo-Asian university in China in partnership with Xi'an Jiaotong University in Suzhou. £200m of investment is also taking place on the university's campus near the centre of Liverpool. Facilities for fun and relaxation are great (the student union building is the largest in the country), the cost of living is
low and there is a real commitment to opening access and the local community. |
