University of Southampton
Founded in 1952, Southampton is an innovative university with a diverse student population. Its main Highfield campus is located two miles from the centre of Southampton, with other sites spread across Southampton and Winchester.
The active students' union recently launched a TV station to accompany its award-winning radio station. The campus has benefited from considerable recent investment, including an £8.4m indoor sports complex and swimming pool, major refurbishment of the students' union and Hartley Library, contemporary halls of residence, and the newly-built, distinctive EEE (Education, Engineering and Entrance) building.
A further four major estate projects are planned, which will underpin the university's academic development and ambition to be among the top 10 universities in the UK. The National Oceanography Centre is here, and the university performs well academically on all fronts. |
