University of Wales, Newport
The university is based on two campuses, one a short walk from the city centre and another in the pleasant village of Caerleon. Student accommodation and the students' union is on the latter. It's a small and friendly campus in a small and friendly village. Plans are under way for a new campus in the city centre. Newport offers plenty to do and it's the focus of regeneration investment. The university was highly rated in the latest national student survey. It is also growing fast, enjoying big increases in student applications. Widening access is a big deal here, too.
