New literary Urdu journal launched
Karachi: A new magazine on Urdu literature titled 'Ijmal' has appeared with more fresh discourses on fiction, short stories, poetry and other forms of literature.

It has been given out by Ham Log Publications, Karachi. The publication is said to be a representative of the collective psyche of progressive and enlightened writers and writings.

Amazingly, the editorial board consisting of Faheem Islam Ansari, Ahmed Sagheer Siddiqui, and Abbas Rizvi have made utmost efforts to see literature and discussions on literature from a different perspective.

The editorial written by Faheem Islam Ansari has made a rather strange declaration, adding that they will not only reject the culture of lobbies, but the writings given by the writers representing certain lobbies.

The editorial has also condemned all those writers who kept up discouraging genuine writers by creating hurdles to the development and advancement of original and enlightened writers.

Abbas Rizvi has written a detailed article, titled, "Zafar Iqbal - a qazeeyae na marzeeya" that compared poetic work by a contemporary poet, Zafar Iqbal in accordance with the observations made by different critics and concludes that nothing great come out of his poetry.

Besides, a good coverage of fresh poetry ('ghazals', 'poems' and 'translations') by senior and junior poets has been given that includes Saraishwar Dial Sakseena, Faheem Ansari, Syed Kashif Raza, Shamim Manzar, Abbas Rizvi, Kawish Abbasi, Nazeer Qaiser, Safdar Siddiq Razi, Ahmed Imtiaz, Zafar Rubab and others.

Besides, the magazine presents wonderful shorts stories by Mansha Yaad, Abbas Rizvi, Iqbal Fareedi, Najmul Hasan Rizvi, and Muhammad Aminuddin that discuss miseries of people of different classes in the context of psychological issues, political and social conditions where people are facing evil designs such as terrorism, extremism and other traps. A writing called 'khaka' (pen-sketch) written by Mumtaz Rafique titled 'Rubber Ka Magarmach - Ahfazur Rehman' has also been included.

The pen-sketch sees the life and performance of Rehman differently and rather critically. Certainly it has been left to the readers as to how they examine the entire account and also the approach of the writer towards Ahfazur Rehman.

A worthy work on the poetry of a late poet Aziz Hamid Madani has been included in the first issue of 'Ijmal' where Hameed Naseem has interpreted the poetry of Madani from a totally different perspective.
