26 out of 28 teachers found absent in college

Karachi, April 21(The News): During a surprise visit to the Government College for Women, Korangi-4, the Director General (Colleges) Sindh, Dr Mohammad Ali Shaikh, found 26 out of 28 teachers, including the college principal Khurshid Fatima, absent from their duties on Friday morning. The college, which has an enrolment of about 2,500 girl students, had majority of students present.

The students were waiting for their teachers to carry out the classes since 8:30 am, but only two lecturers in addition to some locally hired cooperative teachers were present by 9:45 am.

The DG found hundreds of auditorium chairs lying in the open space in the college ground. On enquiry, he was told that they were there since a Milad programme was held in the auditorium many days ago.

The DG took serious note of the state of affairs in the college and on his orders, the Director (Human Resource) Prof Asghar Khan demanded an explanation from all the 26 teachers on Friday.
