Students protest against transfer to Chandka
Nausharo Feroze: Medical students of Moro and Naushahro Feroze took out a procession on Tuesday demanding withdrawal of a decision to transfer them from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, to Chandka Medical College, Larkana.

Led by Asif Ali Kamboh, Mushtaq Almani, Feroze Memon, Ghulam Murtaza Soomro and Hasnain Korai, they took to the streets and staged demonstrations.

In Moro, students burnt tyres on main road against the decision.

They said it was easy for students of Naushahro Feroze district to go to Jamshoro as compared to Larkana. They demanded immediate withdrawal of the decision.

Naib Nazim of Naushahro Feroze UC, Dr Abdul Qadeer, and district PPP deputy general secretary Aftab Mallah has condemned the decision and demanded that students of Naushahro Feroze be allowed to continue their medical education at Jamshoro medical university.

Our Dadu correspondent adds: A large number of girl and boy students of different colleges took out a procession here on Monday in protest against reduction of medical seats in Chandka Medical College. They also staged a demonstration outside the press club for two hours.

Somia Mazhar Memon, Zoya Memon, Samina Panhwar and Mujahid Hussain were leading them.

Somia Memon said the Sindh government had decreased 10 seats of Dadu district despite increase in population and literacy ratio. She alleged that seats for Karachi had been increased which was injustice with the students of the rest of Sindh.

Mujahid Hussain said there was no reason to reduce the seats because the CMC had been upgraded to medical university.

Samina Panhwar said they had sent appeals to President Asif Ali Zardari, Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to restore the previous number of seats of Dadu.

Education employees begin fast unto death
Hyderabad: Three employees of the education department of Naushahro Feroze staged a hunger strike unto death outside the press club here on Tuesday in protest against non-payment of uniform allowance of Rs1,365,000 to employees, non-implementation of job quota of deceased employees of the department and some other issues.

Talking to journalists, Fateh Ali Shah, Akram Khaskheli and Karim Bux Sehto alleged that the EDO in Naushahro Feroze had agreed in the presence of local PPP leaders to disburse uniform allowance among the employees but now he was reluctant to do so.

They said that the employment quota should be implemented and contract employees should be regularised.

Meanwhile, a large number of glass bangle workers under the banner of Mehran Mazdoor Federation staged a demonstration outside the press club against non-implementation of labour laws and minimum wages act.

Veteran leftist leader comrade Jam Saqi, comrade Ghulam Rasool Memon and Mohammad Raheem Shoro were leading the protesters.

They said that workers should be paid minimum wages of Rs6,000 per month and provided other facilities under the social security scheme, Workers Welfare Board and old age benefit.

They said that the working hours should be reduced to eight hours as workers were being forced to work for 12 to 16 hours. Dawn
