AIOU's FA, BA results by middle of this month
Islamabad, Aug 02: The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will announce its results of FA, BA
and all postgraduate programmes by the middle of this month. The
final results of SSC, ATTC, PTC, CT, BEd and PhD Chemistry for the
Autumn Semester 2011 have already been announced and placed on the
Allama Iqbal Open University website. Allama Iqbal Open
University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi said that the process
of announcing results on their scheduled dates has been expedited to facilitate students to continue their next semesters without any delay. Meanwhile,
admissions for the Autumn Semester 2012 from SSC to MA/MSc level
programmes in different disciplines are already in progress. The admission forms and prospectuses for all programmes being offered in the Autumn Semester 2012 are available from the sale points at the main campus, regional campuses and coordination offices throughout the country. The
admission forms and prospectuses for SSC, HSSC and BA level programmes
for Pakistanis in the Middle East could be downloaded from the
university's website (www.aiou.edu.pk). The admission
forms along with prescribed fees can be deposited in all branches of the
Habib Bank Limited, First Women Bank, Bank Alfalah and Allied Bank as
well as in nominated branches of the National Bank of Pakistan and
Muslim Commercial Bank. Detail of the nominated branches is available in
prospectuses and at regional campuses of the university. The last date
for submission of admission forms is August 24.

Colourful art exhibition held at NUML
Islamabad: A colourful art show by amateur student-artists turned the hot and humid
weather into a serene, tranquil and pleasant atmosphere for visitors of
the show at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), says a
press release. According to a press release, the
Department of English Studies arranged the 'Summer Art Show' for
talented students. Students from different departments of the university
participated in the 'Summer Art Show' and displayed their paintings,
sketches, calligraphies, drawings and artwork to decorate the panoramic
world of old civilisations, modern societies, nature, emotions,
passions, aspirations and reality. A wide range of
paintings depicting the beautiful yard of Old Italian Houses, Old
Egyptian Markets, Young Horses running on the sea shores, landscapes,
blossoming flowers, and water falls, sketches of old wrinkled faces and
different sides and mood of human faces, drawings in pastel and charcoal
were great source of attraction for the students, faculty members and
staff. Students who displayed their artwork included Aysha
Rauf, Bilal Qureshi, Saba Shaheen, Rabia Qamar, Faizan Ahmed, Noshaba
and Fariha and many others. NUML Rector Major General (r) Masood Hasan
inaugurated the show. The rector along with NUML Director General
Brigadier Azam Jamal and other officials of the university saw all the
artworks and appreciated the students for their multi-dimensional

HEC grant for Gomal University
Islamabad: Higher Education Commission (HEC) has
released a grant of Rs30 million for the development of different
faculties in the Gomal University.
This was announced during a meeting of Acting Speaker National
Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi and HEC Chairman Dr Javed Leghari who called
on him on Wednesday.
The acting speaker said that a new campus of Benazir Women
University, Peshawar would be established at the vacant land of Gomal

University observes strike against leasing of parking
Rawalpindi: The staff of Pir Mehar Ali Shah Barani University observed a
strike against the leasing of university parking. They sealed the
university registrar office in the protest against the leasing of
university parking to a private firm by the ex-vice chancellor. Staff
members raised slogans and held placards and banners having slogans
against the ex-vice chancellor. The leaders of the staff demanded the
lease should be terminated at once otherwise they would resort to use of
force to close it down. They also reiterated that they would not allow
use of university land for personal benefit. Ex-VC supporters fled the
scene in the face of strike and lock down by staff. The protest would
