KU BA, BCom exam forms date
Karachi, Aug 29: The University of Karachi (KU) on Tuesday announced that the freshly registered students of BA and BCom (Private) could submit their examination forms till September 17. According to a university statement, forms can be obtained and submitted at the bank counter at Silver Jubilee Gate of the university. Meanwhile, the KU further announced that LLB final year examinations would commence from August 29. Students were directed to contact their respective colleges in order to obtain admit cards. Three Fuuast faculties get registration
Karachi: The engineering, law and pharmacy faculties of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (Fuuast) have been registered in the academic councils concerned, says a statement issued here on Tuesday.

After the registration, the degrees awarded by the faculties would have proper recognition in the job market and the national and international educational institutions, it said.

Fuuast Officers Welfare Forum hosted a reception to celebrate the occasion and presented a shield to Karachi University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser in recognition of his efforts in this regard. ppi

KU to hold workshop on multiculturalism in Europe
Karachi: The Area Study Centre for Europe, University of Karachi (KU), in collaboration with Hanns Seidal Foundation, Islamabad, will organise a workshop on multiculturalism in Europe in the light of international developments after 9/11 on August 30 in the ASCE Library, said a statement issued here on Tuesday. KU to hold workshop, seminar on different subjects

Replies sought from BISE chairmen
Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday sought replies from all educational boards' chairmen across the Punjab on a petition filed against the private companies tasked with the preparation of results for metric and intermediate exams.

Justice Ayesha A Malik issued this order on a petition moved by Aslam Gujjar who contended that Chairmen of educational boards' involvement in the result preparation was illegal. The petitioner argued that it was online system which last year had caused huge disturbance and mental agony to students, as they were wrongly shown failed in the result. He requested the court to restrain the private companies from preparing results. The court after hearing arguments of the petitioner issued notice to all educational boards' Chairmen and sought their replies by next date of the hearing, August 31. The news

LCWU launches new discipline
Lahore: The Lahore College for Women University has launched a new discipline of architecture in its Faculty of Engineering and Technology from this academic year.

Varsity's statutory bodies' approval has already been accorded.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Sabiha Mansoor says this will be the first architecture department for female students in the country to mainstream the gender in the development process as envisioned in the global agenda for sustainable development.

She said this scheme of study would be accredited by the Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners, which regulate the practice and education of architecture in the country.

Initially, she said, the department would offer a five-year professional degree programme in architecture leading to a degree of B.Arch. As the department would grow, she said, specialised postgraduate programmes in various aspects of the built environment, including Master's of Architecture and PhD, would also be launched.

She said education in the areas of built environment would empower women through knowledge and skill to contribute purposefully in economic development of the country and to enable them to become responsible citizens.

Prof Mansoor said a maiden meeting of the Board of Studies in Architecture was held recently to consider the scheme of study, syllabi and courses of reading and other related issues.

The meeting was attended by renowned professional architects from the field and academia and included architect Nayyer Ali Dada, Prof Dr Shaukat Mahmood, Prof Dr Neelum Naz, Prof Zamurrad Safdar, Dr M Atiqur Rehman and Prof Dr Mahmood Husain.

UET Admissions
The University of Engineering and Technology has opened admissions to MSc Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry and Applied Mathematics programmes.

The university has invited applications from candidates holding B.Sc 14-year degrees with a minimum score of 60 per cent till Sept 8. All eligible applicants shall appear in a subject test to be held as per schedule given by the department concerned.

LUMS PEC accreditation
Lahore : The Lahore University of Management Sciences' electrical engineering undergraduate programme has been accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council.

The first batch of Electrical Engineering Department of the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering has graduated this year and will be getting accredited degrees. The process for accreditation with PEC was initiated in early 2010. Dawn
