KU Classes postponed this week due to rain
Karachi, Aug 25: The rains that hit Karachi on Wednesday left the faculty of arts
inundated with water, causing most classes to be withheld this week.
departments of Sindhi, General History, International Relations, English and
Urdu were the most affected. Students said they found it astonishing that
rainwater from the day before had still not been cleared.
It must be
mentioned that this is the third time it has rained this month and the same
departments were affected earlier. However, the university administration
repeatedly failed to prevent flooding, which is caused because of the green
patches between the departments and corridors, where the grass is growing
unchecked. Therefore, rainwater accumulates in these areas. This was highlighted
by the chairpersons of these departments, especially Prof. Nargis Rashid of the
Department of General History, but all entreaties fell on deaf ears.

even in the English and Urdu departments, classes could not be held as teachers
and staff were unable to go upstairs on account of the stagnant and filthy water
that stood in the corridor, particularly near the stairs.
Maskan gate near Bhayani Heights, which was inundated with gutter and rainwater,
