No action in nursing school case
NAROWAL, Aug 24: The district health department has yet to take action
against the principal and cook of a nursing school who have been held
responsible for an accident in which nine nursing students were
injured.
An investigation has held the nursing school's Principal Fakhra
and cook Faiz responsible for the accident, which occurred on July 17. The
investigation report, completed almost two weeks ago, said nursing school's
driver Zaib did not come to duty till 7:15am on the day of the incident and in
his absence cook Faiz took out the vehicle to take students to the school from
their hostel.
During the investigation, Zaib said he was not late from
duty because 7:30am was his duty time. Faiz said a tyre burst, not his rough
driving, caused the accident. He claimed he had a driving licence and could
drive properly. Injured students said Faiz used to pick and drop them on the
instructions of Ms Fakhra. They said Faiz also used to pick and drop the
principal.
It has been learnt the accident was the result of Faiz's rash
driving, and the tyre and rim of the vehicle were damaged later to save him from
action.
Dr Muhammad Ashraf, executive district officer for health, said
he had received the investigation report, which held Ms Fakhra and Faiz
responsible for the incident. He said stern action would be taken against them
within a week. Dawn
