'Model colleges' to be launched in Punjab

LAHORE, Aug 16: Model Colleges would be constructed in parts of Punjab under the college reforms programme, said Provincial minister for Education Mian Imran Masood on Wednesday. At the prize distribution ceremony for position holders at Alhamra, he said education was essential and the sector should be developed further. He said Model Colleges would be helpful in this regard. He said the government was working hard on the Education sector. He said 50,000 teachers across Punjab had been employed.

He said needy students would be aided financially. He said teachers' welfare package would be introduced. He said it was under consideration to make BISE's contract employees permanent. Chairman of BISE Dr Zakraya Butt said on the occasion that the Punjab government had done many good things for education. He said BISE was promoting education.Punjab's Higher Education secretary Mubashir Raza, additional secretary Education Department Muhammad Akram Chaudhry and many other guests were at the occasion.
