York University at Toronto proposes reinstallation of Quaid's statue: FO Spokesperson

ISLAMABAD, Aug 25: Foreign Office on Thursday said York University at Toronto, Canada has proposed reinstallation of Quaid's statue in the University library where the statues of other international personalities are installed.

"Our High Commission and the Consulate General are in contact with the University administration to find the most suitable location for the statue's reinstallation," said FO Spokesperson when asked to comment on media reports about the falling down of the statue of Quaid-e-Azam at the York University, Canada.

The Spokesperson said immediately after the Ministry was informed about the falling down of the statue, Pakistan's High Commission in Ottawa and Consulate General in Toronto were instructed to contact the University administration to investigate and establish the reasons for the falling down of the statue and its immediate installation.

She said the University investigated the matter with the help of cameras on the campus and other circumstantial evidence and also reported the matter to the Toronto police.

It has been determined that the statue fell because of faulty installation and there has been no damage to it. There was also no evidence of desecration either on the statue or on the base and the pillar on which it was standing, the Spokesperson added.

She said, "Our Mission and the University Administration remain seized of the matter." App
