HEC confers best teachers award on 46 faculty members
Islamabad, Dec 02: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has conferred 'Best
University Teacher Award' on 46 faculty members of public sector
MNA and Member, National Assembly Standing Committee on Education Begum Nuzhat Sadiq was the chief guest at the award ceremony.
Nuzhat Sadiq appreciated the HEC for launching a programme for
recognising teachers. She said that recognition is a driving force for
putting in more efforts to achieve further excellence. She urged the
teachers to be a role model for their colleagues as well as students.
Chairperson Dr. Javaid R. Laghari emphasised that the universities are
supposed to build communities and economies, but it is not possible
without proactive contribution of teachers.
94 nominations were
received from 47 public sector universities/degree awarding institutions
for the year 2009. After scrutiny and detailed evaluation, 46 teachers
have been selected. This award includes a Certificate of Merit and a
cash prize of Rs100,000.

AMC 28th undergraduate convocation
Rawalpindi: An impressive ceremony the 28th undergraduate convocation
of the Army Medical College (AMC), Rawalpindi was held on Wednesday,
says an ISPR press release.
NUST Rector Lieutenant General (r)
Muhammad Asghar was chief guest on the occasion who awarded degrees to
174 graduates of 29th MBBS and 8th BDS Courses.
It is worth
mentioning here that Army Medical College is an elite medical institute
of the country comprising highly qualified teaching faculty. It was
established in 1977 and was affiliated with Quaid-i-Azam University.
Army Medical College was recognised by General Medical Council, UK in
1982. Fellowship programme commended in 1996. It became a constituent
college of National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) in
1988. BDS course, M.Phil and PhD programmes were started in 1988 and

dental disciplines graduate from this college. Students achieving

Preston University 'Fall Fest 2010'
Islamabad: A Role of Honour Ceremony of Preston University was held
here on Wednesday as part of a weeklong 'Fall Fest 2010' to award
shields and certificates to 100 students who got top three positions in
their respective disciplines.
The certificates were awarded to
position holders studying in all semesters of Bachelor of Business
Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology

students from different universities across the country are competing
for top slots in various competitions including singing, declamation,

LCWU bids farewell to Bushra Mateen
Lahore: The Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) acting
vice-chancellor and faculty members on Wednesday extended a farewell
party to outgoing VC Prof Dr Bushra Mateen.
Speaking at the ceremony, acting VC Prof Dr Farhat Saleemi said Prof
Mateen had developed Lahore College for Women into a reputed university
during her 20-year stint as principal and then the first
Prof Mateen said she herself was a student of the college and then became its principal and vice-chancellor for two terms.

Punjab University Law College student distinction
Lahore: Nauman Asghar a student of LLM International Law of Punjab
University Law College has been selected as Rhodes Scholar for the year
2011. He is also teaching International Law to LLB classes. The subject
