PU announced various exams results
Lahore, Jan 01: The Punjab University (PU) Examinations Department announced the results of various examinations on Thursday. These exams included MA Urdu, Semester System, Session 2007-2009, MA French, Semester System, Session 2007-2009, BS Biochemistry, Semester System, Session 2005-2009 and BS Environmental Sciences (Self-Supporting), Semester System, Session 2004-2008. Lahore: The Punjab University on Thursday issued date sheets of various examinations. The PU issued revised practical date sheets of MBBS, Final Professional (New Re-Organized Scheme), Annual Examination, 2009, MBBS, Final Professional (Re-Organized Scheme), Annual Examination, 2009, revised written exam date sheet of Diploma in Medical Radiology Diagnostic (DMRD), Part-II, Supplementary Examination, 2008 and Annual Examination, 2009, written exam date sheets of BS in Computer Science, First Year, First Annual Examination, 2009, BS in Computer Science, Second Year, First Annual Examination, 2009, BS in Computer Science, Third Year, First Annual Examination, 2009, BSc (Hons) in Computer Science, Third Year, First Annual Examination, 2009 and BSc (Hons) in Computer Science, Fourth Year, First Annual Examination, 2009. UHS declared MBBS examination result 2009
Lahore: The University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, has declared the result of second professional MBBS annual examination 2009.
A total of 2121 candidates from 13 medical colleges appeared in the exam out of which 1571 candidates passed while 547 failed. The result of three candidates was put on RL list. Overall pass percentage was 74.17.
Namra Naeem d/o Muhammad Naeem Chaudhry of Nishtar Medical College, Multan, got first position by securing 802/900 marks.
Wajahat Humayun s/o Umar Farooq of Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore and Anas Ashfaq Ahmed s/o Ashfaq Ahmed of Services Institute of Medical Sciences Lahore got second and third positions by securing 769/900 and 766/900 marks respectively. Supplementary examination will commence from February 16, 2010.
GEPSP orientation Seminar
Lahore: Gender in Education Policy Support Project (GEPSP) of School Education Department organised an orientation seminar 'Gender Sensitisation' on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Secretary School Education Aslam Kambo said women and their needs and priorities should be given as much importance as those of men.
He added development intervention had to be based on understanding of gender roles. Additional Secretary Izhar Ahmed, highlighting the objective of the project, said there was a dire need to enable the School Education Department staff to identify, assess and manage general issues in education.
Gender Consultant Khalida Ehsan, Project Coordinator Saima Hasrat, Additional Secretary (G) Ghulam Abbas Sargana and Deputy Secretary (B&P) Qaiser Rasheed also spoke.
School uniform distribution
Rawalpindi: Hassan Academy for Special Children Principal Dr. Ahmad Hassan on Thursday distributed winter uniforms and shoes among special children studying at the academy.
Addressing the teachers and parents at the monthly meeting of Hassan Academy of Special Children here, he said the government should patronize educational institutions for special children being run by private sector and allocate special grants for them.
He said that financial assistance from the government will help these institutions to educate the special children in a more better way.
Dr. Ahmad Hassan said that physically and hearing-impaired children at his academy are being imparted education in a conducive and friendly environment.
He said as many as 200 special children are getting education along with normal children at his academy.
Dr. Ahmad Hassan said his academy has demonstrated best performance with very limited resources.
Seminar on Media role
Rawalpindi: A day-long seminar with the overarching theme of "Role of Media; Promoting the Culture of Mutual Tolerance, Civic Responsibility and Rule of Law" was held in the Institute for Strategic Studies; Research and Analysis" (ISSRA) at National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad, says an ISPR press release.
NDU President Lieutenant General Muhammad Yousaf in his opening remarks highlighted the role of NDU as a premier institution of learning and research. While speaking on the occasion he said, "the seminar brings about a reunion of the academia and experts, especially media professionals, towards and intellectual discourse of significance in our domestic arena.
It also aimed at generating academic discussion on the potential role of media towards overcoming the country's societal dilemmas and taking up a lead role in transformation for a better tomorrow".
The seminar was organised in three sessions, the first session focusing on "Reviewing the contemporary Societal Dilemmas", was chaired by Dr Riffat Hussain, while Senator Javed Jabbar and Dr Shireen M. Mazari were the speakers. The second session on "Emerging Profile of the Media", was chaired by Mansoor Suhail, and the speakers included Shahid Nadeem and Naseem Zehra.
While the third session on "Re-Enraging our Society - Perspective on a Way Forward", was chaired by Ejaz Haider, and the speakers were Talat Hussain and Moeed H. Peerzada.
Each of the presentation was followed by question/answer session. The participants of the seminar took keen interest in the presentations and made the follow up discussion lively through their questions. The news
