Old edu system restored in Sindh: minister
Karachi, July 12: Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq said that the old system has been restored at the Sindh education department.

He was presiding over a meeting of the official of the education department here on Monday.

The minister said that after restoration of the Commissionerate System, instead of executive district officers (EDOs), the directorates would function.

He stated that the office of the director general colleges has been abolished and now there will be director of colleges in every district.

Haq said that the administration of the schools of the education department would now be with the Sindh government.

He further stated that as part of the policy of the PPP no one would be made jobless. app

BSEK's last chance for candidates
Karachi: On the directives of the chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), Anzar Hussain Zaidi, the board has given the last chance to candidates of the annual examinations-2011 who could not submit their permission, registration or enrolment forms to submit the required documents promptly.

According to the controller of examinations, Rafia Mullah, it was decided that the students of the General Group (Regular and Private) could submit their forms by July 14 while July 19 is the deadline for the students of the Science Group.

The board will encourage the candidates to submit their required forms so that their result may not be withheld. In case, candidates failed to provide the documents at the relevant sections of the board, then BSEK would withhold the result, Rafia Mullah warned.

KU convocation
Karachi: Registrar University of Karachi (KU) M Kaleem Raza Khan on Monday announced that the last date for the submission of the registration form and fee for attending the forthcoming annual convocation had been extended to Saturday, July 23.

The form and fee would be submitted from 10am to 1pm and 10am to 12 noon on Friday. Desirous candidates who have passed bachelors (honours), BS, Pharm-D, Masters, and MPharm in 2009 and 2010 may submit their forms, he said.

The students should contact the Convocation Camp Office located near the Silver Jubilee Gate, KU, he added.

FUUAST exams
Karachi: The registrar of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) on Monday said that the examinations of Evening Programme would commence on July 12 (today) at its Gulshan-e-Iqbal camps.

The examination schedule is available at the respective teaching departments. The candidates have been directed to bring their admit cards.

SSUET appoints project director for education city
Karachi: The Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) on Monday appointed a project director to build an IT park and a university campus on 200 acres of land in the education city. Chancellor SSUET Z A Nizami appointed Engineer Yusuf Siddiqi, a former chief engineer of the then Karachi Development Authority (KDA), during a meeting to review the progress on the project.

The SSUET had been allotted this piece of land in the prestigious education city, a spokesperson said.

The university allocated Rs6.5 million in the budget 2010-11 to start work on the project but later reduced the amount because of various constraints, he added. Now, the SSUET has again allocated Rs6.5 million in the 2011-12 budget and it is expected that planning and paperwork would be completed soon, he added. The news
