HSSC (part-II) results: Jinnah College for Women Peshawar grabs top positions
Peshawar, July 21: Students of the Jinnah College for Women, Islamia College Peshawar and Peshawar Model Degree College shared top positions in various disciplines as the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar (BISEP) Wednesday declared result of the Higher Secondary Schools Certificate (HSSC) annual 2011 examination.

Most of the leading positions were clinched by the Jinnah College for Women, University of Peshawar. The result was announced at the award ceremony for the position holders at a not-so-spacious hall at the BISEP. Principals of various colleges, parents of the position holder students and members of the board attended the function.

Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Sardar Hussain Babak was chief guest, while chairman of the board Prof Dr Mohammad Shafi and controller examinations Islamuddin also addressed the gathering.

According to the result, 20,331 students out of 24,884 who appeared in the HSSC examination as regular students qualified with a pass percentage of 81. Some 14,545 candidates took their examination as private students and 8,149 passed the examination with a pass percentage of 56.

In HSSC Part-I, 29,431 candidates took the examination as regular students and 22,648 of them qualified. A total of 9,781 students appeared in the Part-I examination as private candidates and 4,604 were declared successful.

Ramish Tariq of the Jinnah College for Women clinched the top position by obtaining 997 out of 1100 marks. She was followed by Anaam Rehman of the same institution and Younas Khan of Islamia College Peshawar with 994 marks each while Tujza Tahir of the Jinnah College stood third with 990 marks.

In the pre-engineering group, Mahrukh Naseem of the Jinnah College secured the top position by bagging 965 marks. Mohammad Omar Farooq of the Peshawar Model Degree College was second by getting 964 marks while Shamsul Azeem of the Islamia College Peshawar clinched third position with 961 marks.

Nimra Anwar of the Peshawar Model Degree College got top position in the general science group by scoring 894 marks. She was followed by Ibrar Hussain of the Islamia College Peshawar with 893 marks while Komal Tauqeer of the Peshawar Model Degree College won the third spot with 891 marks.

In the humanities group, the three leading positions went to the Jinnah College for Women. Laraib Javed stood first in the humanities group with 897 marks, Darakhshana second with 890 and Sidra Jan got third position with 882 marks. The theology group was topped by a private candidate, Rasheed Ahmad, who obtained 872 marks.

Education minister Sardar Hussain Babak felicitated the position holders and expressed his optimism that in future students from other colleges would also clinch leading positions.

Malakand board declares HSSC results
Chakdarra: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Malakand declared the result of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) annual examination 2011 on Wednesday.

A press release said that 30,283 boys and girls appeared in the examination while 18,276 qualified it, showing a pass percentage of 60.35. In the overall result of the Part-I and II, Adnan Khan of Islamia College Timergara in Dir Lower district clinched first position by obtaining 959 marks out of 1100. Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, student of Government Degree College, Gulabad won second position with 941 marks and Attaur Rahman of the Tamir-e-Nao School and College, Timergara secured third position with 928 marks.
