Dow students resent fee increase
KARACHI, July 20: The students of the Dow Medical College, concerned
about an increase in the enrolment fee for the second year in succession, have
demanded of the DUHS authorities to withdraw the decision.
Over 200
students of the MBBS first professional signed an application addressed to the
vice-chancellor of the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) expressing their
reservations on the increase of Rs500 in the enrolment fee for their
examinations scheduled to be held later this month.
A delegation of
students called on the DUHS vice-chancellor on Tuesday to discuss the issue.
According to some delegates, the vice-chancellor assured them that he would
reconsider the matter.
The students said that the Dow University of
Health Sciences (DUHS) increased the enrolment fee by Rs500 last year an citing
increase in the expenditures on arranging the examination at a local
hotel.
But, they said, this year the management had arranged for the
examinations on the DUHS premises adding that a further increase in the fee
