Wafaqul Madaris to protect Jamia Hafsa

GUJRANWALA, July 14: The Wafaqul Madaris Alarbia Pakistan has once again expressed its resolve that any official move to demolish or change the status of Jamia Hafsa will be resisted.

WMAP executive council member and Pakistan Sharia Council general secretary Maulana Zahidul Rashid said that a meeting of the Wifaqul Madaris had already suggested to the government that PML president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain should be made administrator of the Jamia Hafsa and Jamia Faridia.

The Maulana who was also a member of the negotiating team that held talks with Maulana Rashid Ghazi and the government said the deal efforts were sabotaged by President Musharraf.

He pointed out that he had exchanged harsh words with state minister Tariq Azeem over the issue of changing the unanimous draft.

He said in response to the amended draft, deceased Maulana Abdul Rashid Ghazi had replied that the government had already decided to kill him and his men as the entire exercise of negotiations was a drama.

DEMO: Activists of religious parties and students of various religious schools took out a procession against the operation.

They gathered at Sheranwala Bagh after Friday prayers from where the procession started. They marched on the GT road up to Gondlanwala Chowk and chanted slogans against the government. Dawn
