IJT threatens to oppose NTS tests
LAHORE, July 9: The Islami Jamiat Talba (IJT) had threatened to disturb
the National Testing Service (NTS) admission test of Punjab University (PU), as
the new system was against the interests of students, IJT nazim Muhammad Ayub
said on Sunday. The nazim was addressing the ceremony to commemorate the alleged
killing of four IJT activists by another students' group, Imamia Students
Organisation (ISO) in 1994.
Reportedly, the workers had tried to stop the ISO
from organising their religious gathering (Majlis) at the PU and were killed in
the subsequent clash. The nazim said the sacrifices were made by workers to
dissolve sectarianism in the PU. "The IJT has always fought to eliminate social
evils and uphold Islamic values", he said. Former nazim of IJT Rana Arshad
Mahmood said the IJT was the supreme force against dictatorship and its workers
were currently fighting for independence of judiciary. daily times
