Papers postponed on birth anniversary of Benazir Bhutto

HSC papers postponed
Karachi, June 21, 2008: The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has rescheduled all those papers which were to be held on Saturday.

According to a spokesman for the board, since June 21 has been declared a provincial holiday, the HSC Humanities Group papers scheduled for the day will now be held on July 2.

He said that the timings and venue of the papers would remain unchanged.

Varsities closed
All the offices, educational institutions, autonomous bodies, cooperative and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government shall remain closed on Saturday on account of the public holiday declared to observe the birth anniversary of the slain former prime minister and the chairperson of the Pakistan People's Party, Benazir Bhutto, agencies add.

According to the separate notifications issued by different institutions on Friday, the University of Karachi, NED University of Engineering and Technology and Dow University of Health Sciences will remain closed on June 21 on account of the birth anniversary of the slain former prime minister.

The Karachi University registrar stated that all the examinations scheduled for the day had been postponed, while a new date would be announced later.

KU interviews
The list of the successful candidates for the admission in different departments of the University of Karachi (KU) Evening Programme has been issued. Dr M Abuzar Wajidi, Director Evening Programme, has directed that those candidates of MBA (Banking & Finance) seeking Admissions 2008 in the Evening Programme, whose form numbers have appeared in the list displayed on Friday, should appear, along with the original mark sheets (Matric to Graduation), for interview on Wednesday, June 25 at 10:00 a.m. at the Institute of Bankers of Pakistan (IBP) Building located at Moulvi Tamizuddin Khan Road, Karachi.

The DUHS cancelled all the examinations scheduled for June 21 and announced that they would be conducted on June 22.

FUUAST results
Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology (FUUAST) has announced the results of the M.Sc. Final (Microbiology) examinations-2007. Saadia Khalil, Beenish Mahmood and Raheela secured first, second and third positions respectively. The pass percentage was 60.50.

FUUAST has also announced the results of the M.Sc. Final (Chemistry) examinations-2007. Zahra Khatoon, Asfia Ambreen and Rafat Naeem obtained first, second and third positions respectively. The pass percentage was 73.7.

In the meantime all the papers that were to be held today have been postponed.

KU first in Benazir quiz competition
University of Karachi (KU) has secured first position in 'Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Quiz Competition' which was held in Lahore under the auspices of Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV).

Khwaja Umar and Qurratul Ain (Department of Public Administration) and Zuby Fatima (General History) proved too good to their opponents and brought the coveted shield to Karachi. The students, accompanied by the Students Advisor Dr Nusrat Idris, met the Vice Chancellor Prof. Pirzada Qasim on Friday to present him the winning shield. The VC commended the students. The News
