Sindh education vs Punjab education
Lahore, June 10: Behaviour of Sindh Government with education sector devotees: Informing
about the facilities, what he got in response of his efforts, Shahid
said, "I did not get any kind of increment since my appointment." He has
been appointed as principal as he was the single option at that time.
"Sincerely speaking, I really do not want anything from education
department except the facilities for school. I want more teachers in the
school, besides, increase in fund so that I could provide light, clean
water, desks and other facilities to my students at school." The gatekeeper, who also teaches in school, Muhammad Junaid
Khan asserted that he was appointed in 2009 but his job started in
middle of 2011. He was gatekeeper but the principal requested him to do
teaching as he is able to teach. "I have only taken three or four leaves
throughout my career, but govt didn't give me any increment and
promotion still after completing intermediate and first year of BA," he
said with sad emotions on his eyes. Behaviour of Punjab Government with education sector devotees: When contacted a government teacher in Rawalpindi, Punjab, who
teaches at FG Boys High School Rawalpindi. He informed, "Punjab
government gives increment on performances including seniorities." He
was of the view that annual reports go to high authorities, who give
promotion, seniority, increment and other facilities to those teachers,
who produce impressive result of their classes. This kind of practice
encourages teachers to work with full attention. Secretary Education Sindh Fazal Ullah Palecho said, "We do not have any
policy regarding promotion on the basis of performance. But different
things are under consideration in this regard and soon policy will be
announced." How teachers could be punctual and better educators, if they
get finical crisis, low pay scale and lack of facilities in response of
their hard working and devotedness with their duties. This is a
question for education authorities to realise and for us to see the
outcome of it.

Sacked Aitchison College teachers demand justice
Lahore: Sacked teachers of Aitchison College Lahore staged a protest
demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club on Sunday. Teachers demanded
Governor Punjab, Chief Justice of Pakistan and CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif
to take action on their termination "without any reason." Principal Aitchison College Shamim Saif ullah Khan on Friday terminated around 60 teachers without any reason. Carrying
placards and chanting slogans against principal and board of governor,
teachers protested for several hours demanding their restoration and
action against authorities. They termed the incident as the worst ever
in the 126-year history of Aitchison College. While addressing a
press conference before protest, Acting Head Master Aitchison College
Muhammad Asif, Yousuf Kamal, Manzar Ali and several others threatened to
spread their protest campaign if their demands were not met. They were
of the view that teachers do not belong to any political party, trade
union or any other movement and are purely educationists. They
demanded a high profile investigation commission to probe "corruption
at Aitchison College." They also demanded termination of the Principal
and Governor's intervention in affairs of Aitchison College. Muhammad
Asif termed the sacking unjust and biased decision of college
administration. He said that administration has been used to for sacking
teachers as some months ago administration sacked some teachers who
were later restored by Chief Justice of Pakistan. "But college administration this time again terminated those teachers who were restored by CJP," he asserted. He
said that this termination has created panic within the teaching
community as all of this is happening in a province where government is
said to be education friendly. "These types of steps show that before
the expected change of Governor Punjab and Board of Governors of
College, some people wanted to appoint their favourites on key posts at
the college which would help them in upcoming admissions," Asif added.
Another teacher Yousuf was of the view that Aitchison incident is a test
case for the new education friendly government. Daily times
