KU workshop on Biosafety, Health & Environment
Karachi, June 6(The News): To commemorate the World Environment Day a workshop on Biosafety, Health and
Environment was held at the Institute of Environmental Studies, University of
Karachi (KU) on Tuesday.
The Vice Chancellor, KU, Prof. Dr Pirzada Qasim
in his inaugural address strongly emphasised the need for safety of human health
and advocated a better quality of life. He observed that 35 to 45 per cent of
our active life share is spent on executing professional duties. For our quality
of work and beneficial utilisation of human resource, environment plays an
important role. The Incharge of the Institute of Environmental Studies, Dr
Moazzam Ali Khan welcomed the VC, guests and the participants and apprised the
audience about the achievements and progress of the Institute. He also informed
them about the successful organisation of the International Centre for Legumes
in Mediterranean Agriculture (CLIMA) Conference in collaboration with the Area
Study Centre for Europe and Centre of Excellence in Marine Biology,
KU.
Dean Science Prof. Dr Nikhat Yasmin Siddiqui, Pro-Vice Chancellor
Prof. Dr Akhlaq Ahmed and Director Biological Research Centre, Dr Shakeel Ahmed
Khan also spoke on the occasion. The workshop will continue for two days with
the concluding session on June 7.
