IIUI ASA disappointed at HEC's ad
ISLAMABAD, June 19(Daily Times): The Academic Staff Association (ASA) of the
International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has expressed disappointment
at the Higher Education Commission's (HEC) advertisement showing zero research
by the IIUI. In a press statement on Monday, ASA President Prof Arshad Zia said
that research articles of the IIUI faculty were frequently published, even in
the HEC-recognised journals in 2006, but these were not noted for the list of
research productivity.
Speaking at a dinner arranged by the ASA to celebrate the
HEC's decision to upgrade the university's faculty, Dr Anwar Hussain Siddiqui,
the IIUI president, said there might be some flaws in rating universities'
research productivity, but the HEC advertisement had alerted the teachers and
researchers to the need of enhanced efforts in the field of research and
publication. He said there was no excuse for the university teachers not to show
their output, as research publications were frequently appearing these days.
