Private students appearance in Science group exams
Karachi, March 02: Private candidates will not be allowed to appear in examinations of the Science group anywhere in Pakistan, and all matriculation boards of the country have been directed to follow the decision, Board of Intermediate Karachi (BIEK) Chairman Anwar Ahmed Zai said on Monday.
The BIEK chairman said that several Punjab-based boards allowed private students to take Science group exams, but this was unanimously rejected by the chiefs of 27 educational board of the country.
The first day of the IBCC meeting also resolved that private sector colleges that use the word 'cadet' have to seek permissions from the Army headquarters in this regard. These colleges have been asked to obtain a written permission by June 30, 2010; in case they are unable to obtain this go-ahead, they would not be allowed to use the word 'cadet' Zai said.
The IBCC meeting discussed the matter of Army Board of Higher Education, Zai said, adding that board has approached the IBBC to allow them to conduct technical courses and exams. The IBCC, asked the Army Board to get permission from the authority concerned to form the Army Board of Higher and Technical Education.
The IBCC also refused to allow the Islamic University of Islamabad to conduct technical courses in its premises he said.
Grade 19 teachers given additional charge
Karachi: Employees, including a teacher of Grade 19 were given the additional charge of Grade 20 in different posts of the Sindh Education Department on Monday. This happened due to the delay in the promotions of associate professors and other employees of Grade 19 into Grade 20.
Director Finance, Directorate General Colleges Sindh, Perwaiz Shaikh has been given the additional charge of Director General Colleges Sindh after the retirement of Dr Rafique Siddiqi on Monday.
Meanwhile, Saeed Jumani of the Reform Support Unit has been given the additional charge of Chairman Sindh Text Book Board. Furthermore, Kamil Shaikh will now work as the Additional Principal, DJ College. This post was vacant after the retirement of former principal, Rizwan Hyder.
BSEK award ceremony
Karachi: The students who excelled in the science and general groups' annual examination 2008 of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) will be awarded merit certificates.This was stated by Chairman of the BSEK, Syed Anzar Hussain Zaidi, on Monday.
He said that a ceremony to this effect would be organised on March 3 at 5pm at the Pakistan Homoeopathic Medical College Nazimabad which was adjacent to the office of the BSEK.
The BSEK chairman said that as many as 150 students would be given the certificates of merit. He stated that prizes would also be distributed among the students who obtained positions in the recently conducted Students Week organised by the BSEK. The news
IU Convocation 2010
Karachi: Nine of the candidates who excelled in various disciplines were decorated with gold medals, while 237 successful candidates were conferred degrees at the Convocation 2010 of the Iqra University.
The degrees were granted in the disciplines of business administration, engineering, fashion designing, computer science, telecommunication, textile designing, media sciences and education.
Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq said the country was facing deficiency of quality engineers and PhD scholars of international standards and Iqra University had realised this deficiency and recently launched a PhD programme in the engineering discipline. Isra varsity convocation
Hyderabad: Five graduates were awarded gold medals and six silver medals at Irsa Universitys annual convocation of 2010 at the university campus.
