Teachers form bodies to ensure exam boycott

LAHORE, 24 May(Daily Times): The Muttahida Mahaz Asataza (MMA) formed committees to ensure complete boycott of primary and middle standard exams starting from May 25.

An emergency meeting of the MMA was held on Wednesday in which arrangements regarding successful boycott of exams were reviewed.

The boycot is part of the Muttahida Mahaz Asataza's protest against the government over several issues including the non-issuance of the teaching allowance that has not been paid despite instructions by the prime minister in 2006, and denationalisation of a large number of educational institutions.

MMA Lahore chapter chairman Allah Dad Malik chaired the meeting while the participating office bearers and teachers vowed to boycott the exams.

They said the government was not paying attention to teacher's problems including denationalisation of educational institutions and teaching allowance.
