Urdu University to get land for campus
ISLAMABAD, May 3(Daily Times): Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said
the Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology will be provided with the
land it needs to build its campus to enhance the university's capacity to
promote education.
Addressing as chief guest at a prize distribution
ceremony on Wednesday at the conclusion of a weeklong sports festival in the
varsity, he asked the university management to prepare a comprehensive summary
and present it before the government's land distribution committee, and said the
committee would discuss the matter in its next meeting.
"I realise the
university has been set up in a rented building and needs to have its own
campus," said Ahmed, adding that the varsity would be provided with suitable
land to accommodate its campus, playgrounds and other necessary facilities to
ensure the provision of quality education and co-curricular activities. Later,
the federal minister distributed prizes and certificates among winners of
various competitions, including qirat and naat competitions, cricket and
badminton championships and drama contests.
