Karachi university declared MA previous external results
Karachi, Nov 8: The University of Karachi on Saturday announced the results of MA (previous) external annual examination 2008.

According to statistics, a total of 1,009 candidates appeared in the examination and only 390 of them emerged successful, making the pass percentage 38.65. The university said it was sending marks sheet to the candidates to their given addresses. APP

3,000 closed schools made functional
Jamshoro: Sindh Minister for Education Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq Sunday said that out of 7,000 closed schools 3,000 have been made functional while 6,000 teachers are being hired for the rest of the schools.

Talking to media during his visit to Sindh University Jamshoro where pre-entry test was underway, the Minister said 1,700 schools are still being used as 'Autaqs' by Waderas.

He said 7,700 schools were closed across the province when he took over the charge of his present post. He said 3,000 schools have been functional after appointment of teachers. Dawn

Over 400 ad-hoc lecturers regularised
Karachi: Services of more than 400 ad-hoc lecturers have been regularised by the Sindh education department, an official said on Saturday.

He said that on the recommendation of the Sindh Public Service Commission, provincial Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazharul Haq endorsed and issued the confirmation letters to 401 ad-hoc lecturers whose services were regularised. The lecturers came from 20 different disciplines.

The minister hoped that the lecturers would continue to perform their duties with devotion and commitment.

Meanwhile, the minister asked the regional directors of education department to send working papers and other related documents relating to those teachers who were waiting for their promotion to grade-20.

Taking notice of an inordinate delay in the official procedures, he warned that the officials responsible for the lapse would be transferred to some other place if they failed to do the needful. PPI
