BIEK announces HSC Humanities results
KARACHI, Oct 30: The Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi, on Monday
declared the results of HSC Humanities (regular, private and special
candidates), Part-II annual examinations
2007.
RegularFirst position was secured by Lalarukh Fida,
seat no 409075, of DA Degree College for Women, who got 898 marks out of 1,100.
Anam Naseem, seat no 408825, of PECHS Women College, and Sukaina Kamani, seat no
409137, of DA Degree College for Women, secured the second and third positions
respectively.
According to result statistics, as many as 13,606
candidates appeared in the regular group exams, out of which 5,011
were
declared successful. A-1 grade went only to a female candidate, while none of
the male students managed to secure A grade.
The breakdown of successful
candidates in the regular group is as follows:
A-1 grade (one), A grade
(92), B grade (822), C grade (2,080), D grade (1,952) and E grade
(64).
PrivateSamreen Aurakzai, seat no 349052, clinched
the first position in the order of merit by securing 860 out of 1,100 marks. The
second and third positions went to Javeria Naeem, seat no 344923 and Mohammad
Akhlaq, seat no 332188, respectively.
As many as 12,342 students took the
exams as private candidates, out of which 4,656 were declared successful. None
of them secured A-1 grade.
The breakdown of successful candidates in the
private group is as follows:
A-1 grade (nil), A grade (17), B grade
(369), C grade (1,756), D grade (2,276) and E grade (238).
Special
candidates In all 87 special candidates appeared in the exams, out
of which 73 were declared successful. The top three position holders belonged to
ABSA Higher Secondary School for Deaf.
Shumaila Manzoor, seat no 430563,
got the first position as she secured 1,001 out of 1,100 marks, ie 91 per cent.
She was followed by Azeem Anwar, seat no 430162, and Saba Jahan, seat no 430560,
with second and third positions respectively.
The breakdown of successful
candidates in the special candidates' group is as follows:
A-1 grade
(22), A grade (24), B grade (17), C grade (8), D grade (2) and E grade
(Nil).
Pass percentageThe highest overall percentage of
successful candidates has been recorded in the special candidates group (83.91),
followed by private (37.72 per cent) and regular candidates (36.83 per
cent).
Pass percentage in the three categories came down by 10-12 per
cent this year. In 2006, the success rate in the regular group was 48.74 per
cent, while 47.42 in the private group and 96.05 per cent in the special
candidate group.
The chairman of the board, Anwar Ahmed Zai, presented
the top three position holders of each group with their marks sheets at a
ceremony held on Monday afternoon. Dawn
