Private schools to pay income tax
KARACHI, Oct 4: Since the Education Department of Sindh has allowed
establishing schools on an ownership basis, such institutions would pay income
tax to the government.
"Previously, we had been demanding exemption from
income tax and other taxes for the schools set up under the Society Act, but now
when Ordinance 2001 allows running schools on an ownership basis, we are bound
to pay income tax," said Syed Khalid Shah, chairman, All Private Schools
Management Association, Sindh.
Khalid Shah led a delegation of his
association in a meeting with officials of the Regional Office of the Income Tax
department, Gulstan-e-Johar, on Wednesday.
Additional Commissioner
Income Tax Shoaib Ahmed Sethi, Deputy Commissioners Income Tax Sharia Memon and
Sallahuddin Gilani represented their department. The income tax officials
briefed the delegation on a simplified procedure of filing income tax returns
including e-filing. ppi
