University of Balochistan to establish campus in Gwadar

QUETTA, Oct 1: The University of Balochistan (UOB) will set up its campus at Gwadar in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission. In this regard, 1,500 acres of land has been earmarked for the purpose, official sources told reporters here on Sunday.

The UOB administration has also worked out to establish another campus at the Samungli Airbase, in the suburbs of the provincial capital and 500 acres of land has been acquired for the purpose, sources said.

It has also devised a comprehensive plan to upgrade part of the Government Degree College, Turbat where postgraduate classes will soon be started, the added. The commencement of classes will facilitate students of Turbat and its surrounding districts in obtaining higher education at the campus so that they do not need to visit the provincial capital.

The Turbat campus will also facilitate poor students to continue their higher education who cannot afford to get education in the city.

The government is making all out efforts to establish maximum educational institutions aimed at increasing literacy rate in the province. The number of universities in Balochistan has increased from one to five during the present government's tenure. App spacer
