New BIEK rules to ensure class attendance
KARACHI, Sep 8: The heads of all educational institutes have been told by
the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi to inform them of student attendance
by the 10th of each month. The Board will then advertise the attendance every
three months to keep parents informed of their children's attendance.
Furthermore, at least 75 percent attendance is necessary for students to be
eligible to appear in the coming examinations.
A directive to this effect was
issued Friday by Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) Chairman Anwar
Ahmedzai. He has asked the heads of all the private and government colleges and
higher secondary schools to inform students who are enrolled at the start of the
academic year that they will not be able to take their exams unless they have a
minimum of 75 percent attendance. The BIEK chairman also told the principals to
keep the Board up to date about student attendance by the tenth of every month
so that records could be maintained. This will enable students to attend classes
regularly and complete the required course in time, Anwar Ahmedzai pointed out. APP
