HEC to establish sub-campus
ISLAMABAD, Sept 25: A project submitted by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) regarding the establishment of
sub-campus of University of Agriculture, Faisalabad at Depalpur, Okara has been
approved by the CDWP meeting of Planning Commission, Government of
Pakistan.
This project would complete in 60 months. HEC has allocated all
the necessary funds for this project. The project aims at removing regional
imbalances, imparting agricultural education & research work, developing and
transferring crop related technologies to the local farmers of the community,
said a press release.
Through the project a trained and skilled work force
will also produce having a focus on innovation, value addition and
entrepreneurship, capable of employing knowledge inputs for the rapid and
sustainable agriculture development of Pakistan.
This project aims at
exploiting the full potential of crops especially cotton, wheat, sugarcane,
maize, rice, fodder, vegetable etc., for enhanced agricultural production for
local consumption and export.
The major objectives of the project includes
imparting high quality agriculture and science education to students in
identified disciplines to accredited international standards, thus catering for
development and research needs of agriculture in Pakistan in future. The project
aims to incorporate the latest facilities in line with advances in leading
international institutions.
Through the project 200 scholars 150 BSc Hons and
50 MSc Hons would be produced annually after implementation of the project. The
faculty of the university would be made capable for providing consultancy to
enhance agriculture growth around Depalpur and throughout Pakistan and to
develop and transfer crop related technologies to the local farming community.
HEC establishes multi-campus intranet setup for the NWFP UET Peshawar
The
Higher Education Commission (HEC) has succeeded in providing Multi Campus
Intranet Set up for the Campuses of NWFP University of Engineering and
Technology, Peshawar at Mardan, Bannu and Abbotabad, according to another press
release.
The project approved by the HEC for establishment of multi campus
intranet set up for the campuses at NWFP University of Engineering &
Technology, Peshawar hascompleted projects initiated by the HEC at all the
universities of Pakistan.
The project has successfully been implemented and
connection with HEC. PERN has been established and Information Services Centre
has also been established at UET Peshawar that is benefiting the students,
administration and faculty as well in addition to Wireless access hotspots and
official website has been developed by the UET Peshawar with URL
www.nwfpuet.edu.pk. All latest information is placed here regarding the
university and the program offered by the university alongwith the admission
details.
Through the project sub-campuses of the UET Peshawar have been
connected with the university main Campus, Peshawar. The video conferencing
services have been established for online services of both academics and
