Punjab examination system for primary middle standards
Lahore, Sep 10: On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, an examination commission has been set up to introduce new examination system for primary and middle standards.

Punjab Examination Commission has been given the task to conduct primary and middle examinations of more than 2.3 million students, it has been learnt. Under the new examination system, computerised marking of papers would be carried out. The Punjab examination commission would deploy 3,000 inspectors at examination centres.

All students of government and Punjab education foundation would be bound to appear in both examinations. The students of registered private primary secondary and higher secondary educational institutes would also participate in both examinations. Those students who will not take part in the examination would not be allowed admission in government educational institutes at class 6th and 9th.

The examination of primary and middle standard under Punjab examination commission would be held in first and second week of February 2010 respectively while result would be announced by March 31. The news

Shalimar Medical College completed
Lahore: A new medical college in the private sector has been completed in the provincial metropolis which will cater to growing health education requirements on no profit no loss basis after it is duly approved by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council.

The Shalimar Medical College has been set up by the Businessmen Hospital Trust which is already running the Shalimar Hospital in Moghulpur locality of the city for several years.

The Trust has already applied to the PMDC for securing the required permission after which the college would become functional in due course of time.

Architectural Consultant for the Shalimar Medical College, Imtiaz Ali,men about the project said that the college building has been completed in a record time of 15 months and it has covered area of 12.,5 million square feet. He said the project has already cost Rs 300 million and another Rs 100 million will be incurred for completion of all the infrastructure facilities. Replying to questions, Imtiaz Ali said that hostel facilities for the students will be provided in the second phase which will be taken shortly. He said the new medical college has admission capacity for 500 students adding that every year, 100 students will be enrolled in the first year.

Shalimar Medical College is the outcome of concerted and committed efforts made by Board of Trustees of the Businessmen Hospital Trust Chairman hailing from the Servis Group of Industries and former Chairman of national airlines PIA, Ch Ahmad Saeed.

Justice Khalilur Rahman Ramdey of the Supreme Court of Pakistan is the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Shalimar Medical College. F.P. Report

Governor confirms appointment of UVAS faculty dean
Lahore: Governor Salmaan Taseer has confirmed the appointment of Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad as the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Faculty of Veterinary Sciences dean through a notification.
