Ghandhara College clinches top positions in DAE exams

The students of the Gandhara College of Technology clinched the overall
top three positions as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Technical Education
Peshawar declared the results of the Diploma of Associate Engineers
(DAE) examination 2012 on Tuesday. The results were announced at an award giving ceremony for the position holder students. Minister for Technical Education and Mineral Development Mahmud Zaib Khan was the chief guest. Secretary industries, Fazal Karim Khattak, director general technical education Prof Shakeel Ahmad, Board of Technical Education Chairman Prof Nasir Ali Mohammadzai and controller examination Jamal Akbar were also present. Declaring the results, the controller examination said that a total of 75,414 students had appeared in the examination out of which 36,202 were declared successful with a pass percentage of 48. Hussain, a student of Gandhara College of Technology Chakdara, secured
the overall top position by obtaining 3,080 out of total 3550 marks. He
was followed by Jawad Ahmad and Waqar Hussain of the same college for
the second and third positions with 3,074 and 3,062 marks, respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, the provincial minister
felicitated the position holders and urged them to focus on studies to
become useful citizens of the society. The minister
underlined the need for promoting technical education and said that
technically learned people could play a vital role in the development of
the society. He asked the student to pay attention to learning the practical skills.

MoU signed for exchange of students, faculty
Pesahwar: A
memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the
University of Peshawar and Hanbat National University South Korea for
exchange of students and faculty for capacity-building and higher
studies. A press release said that under the MoU, the
two universities would also exchange scientific material and research
publications besides conducting joint research.

HU students display artwork at thematic exhibition
Mansehra: The bachelor level Fine Arts students, the first batch in the Department
of Art and Design in Hazara University, organised a thematic exhibition
to display their artwork. The exhibition displaying
the artistic skills of the students was supervised by Dr Zainul Wahab
while the colourful show was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Hazara
University Dr Syed Sakhawat Shah. The first batch of the Bachelor of
Fine Arts (BFA) passed out under the supervision of Dr Zainul Wahab,
head of the Art and Design Department, Hazara University. The
students projected various themes in the presentation and displayed
their work, which was highly appreciated by the faculty and the
vice-chancellor. A Portuguese Archaeology expert Prof
Carlos Calazan also visited the exhibition besides a large number of the
university's faculty and students. A jury including Dr Riffat Dar and
Mrs Sadia Nauman Qazi evaluated the work of the students. The visitors
expressed keen interest in the artwork of the students, including
Bushra's pictorial work on different aspects of the ego, Mukarram Khan's
demonstration of the Pakhtun folktale "Adam Khan and Durkhanai", Izza
Sajjad textile designs and Miss Zarmina's projection of the truck
drivers' lives. The news
