Not sure which QBank you need?

Pick the title DHP will license you under. Your DHP eligibility letter names it.

How the QCHP exam works

Doctors, dentists, nurses and pharmacists who want to work in Qatar are licensed by the Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP) at the Ministry of Public Health. Most people still call it QCHP, its former name. The exam is a closed-book, computer-based MCQ test taken at a Prometric test centre. Getting licensed takes five steps:

  1. Apply on the DHP online portal (qchp.org.qa) with your degree, internship and experience records.
  2. Verify your documents through DataFlow primary source verification. This usually takes 4 to 8 weeks.
  3. Book your Prometric exam once DHP issues your eligibility letter. GPs book under exam code SCHQ2.
  4. Pass the exam at or above the pass mark for your profession.
  5. License: finish your DHP registration and classification, then activate your licence.

For the GP track, check that you have:

  • A medical degree of at least 6 years from an institution on DHP's recognised list.
  • A completed internship or house job, certified by the training hospital.
  • At least 2 years of continuous clinical experience after qualifying. Gaps of more than 6 months usually need a written explanation.
  • A valid, unrestricted licence in your country of practice.

Specialists, dentists, nurses and pharmacists apply the same way, with the qualifications and experience DHP sets for their title.

QCHP exam format by specialty

The GP, General Dentist, Registered Nurse and Pharmacist exams each have 150 MCQs in 3 hours. DHP does not publish figures for specialist exams, so the table shows only what is confirmed.

Questions are mostly clinical scenarios that ask for the next best step, not direct recall. The GP exam draws on internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics and obstetrics and gynaecology, with internal medicine the largest share. Where a specialty has no published pass mark, aim well above 60%.

Exam details checked: November 2026.

Exam exemptions

Physicians who have passed one of these exams may be exempt from the QCHP exam: AMC, PLAB Part 1, USMLE Step 3, MCCQE Part 1, the Hamad Medical Corporation National Board Examination, the IFOM exam, or Ireland's Pre-Registration Examination (both MCQ and OSCE parts).

An exemption does not give you a licence on its own. You still complete DataFlow verification and the rest of DHP registration.
