DHA exam qbanks and specialty guides
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Prometric exam is required for General Practitioners, specialists, and dentists applying for a professional license to practice in Dubai. The exact question count, duration, and passing score are set separately for each specialty by DHA/Prometric, so choose your specific role below for accurate, verified details rather than relying on general figures:
- DHA General Practitioner (GP) Exam — for doctors applying to practice as a general practitioner.
- DHA Obs & Gynae Exam — 100-150 MCQs, 150 minutes, passing score above 65%.
- DHA Internal Medicine Exam — specialty exam for internal medicine physicians.
- DHA General Surgery Exam — 100-150 MCQs, 150 minutes, passing score 65% or higher.
- DHA General Dentist Exam — 100-150 MCQs, 165 minutes, passing score above 60%.
- DHA Dermatology Exam — 100-150 MCQs, 165 minutes, passing score above 70%.
- DHA Paediatrics Exam — 100 MCQs, 160 minutes, passing score above 70%.
- DHA Orthodontics Exam — 100-150 MCQs, around 165 minutes, passing score above 65%.
- DHA Endodontics Exam — 100 MCQs, 2-3 hours, passing score above 60%-70%.
- DHA Prosthodontics Exam — 150 MCQs, about 170 minutes, passing score 60% or higher.
A dedicated guide for the GP exam is in progress; its Qbank is already available above.
How the DHA Dubai exam works
Regardless of specialty, the DHA exam is a closed-book, computer-based multiple-choice test administered at a Prometric test center in the UAE, taken as part of the DHA license/eligibility process for doctors, specialists, and dentists relocating to or practicing in Dubai. Candidates apply through the DHA Sheryan portal, complete DataFlow primary source verification of their credentials following our DHA exam eligibility guidelines, and then book their Prometric exam slot once approved.
Because each specialty's blueprint, timing, and passing threshold are set independently, we recommend reviewing your specific exam's guide above before you start preparing, rather than assuming another specialty's numbers apply to yours.

Frequently asked questions
> What is the DHA exam?
The DHA (Dubai Health Authority) exam is a Prometric-administered licensing exam required for doctors, medical specialists, and dentists who want to practice professionally in Dubai, UAE. It tests clinical knowledge relevant to the applicant's specific specialty.
> Who needs to take the DHA exam?
Any doctor, medical specialist, or dentist applying for a DHA professional license to work in a Dubai healthcare facility needs to pass the DHA exam that corresponds to their specialty (for example, General Practitioner, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Obs & Gynae, Paediatrics, or one of the dental specialties).
> Is the DHA exam the same for every specialty?
No. Each specialty has its own question count, exam duration, and passing score set by DHA/Prometric. A General Practitioner's exam pattern is not the same as a General Surgery, Paediatrics, or Prosthodontics exam pattern, so always check the guide for your specific specialty rather than assuming the figures carry over.
> How should I prepare for the DHA exam?
Most candidates prepare using a dedicated Qbank of practice MCQs with explanations, combined with a structured review of their specialty's syllabus. INTERFACE's Live Online course (65-100 hours over 6-10 weeks) and shorter refresher/crash courses are built specifically around each specialty's current DHA exam blueprint.
> Are exemptions available from the DHA exam?
Some specialties offer exemptions for candidates holding specific recognized board certifications or fellowships (for example, certain UK, US, Canadian, Australian, or New Zealand qualifications), evaluated case by case by DHA. See our full DHA exam exemption criteria breakdown, and check your specific specialty's guide above, since exemption criteria differ by specialty.
